Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

For Halloween this year. My roommates and I decided to be the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. At first I was not into TMNT because I thought it would be super cliche and we would end up looking like doofs with a sled attached to our backs but my roommate Jessie is amazing and made these amazing costumes!

Don't these shells look AMAZING! Hours of paper macheting and painting
We brought Casey Jones along with us but we found shredder was already at the party

We took second place at the costume contest!
We looked Dang good! Also, funny little tidbit, guys loved that we dressed up as there favorite turtle.

Health Fairs

For my internship I have been going to a lot of health fairs. I tell people about the importance of pre cancer screenings and if cancer is caught early it is more treatable. Then I proceed to throw brochures at these people. At one of my fairs last week I had all my brochures displayed as well as two models on the table. One of a colon and one of a uterus. At the beginning of the health fair a guy in his late 20's with tattoos and piercings walked up to the table took one look at the uterus looked at me and turned around and walked away. Too funny, I thought this guy was hard and nothing could bother him, but apparently a plastic model rattled him!
Towards the end of the fair another man walked up to the table looked at the colon, looked at me and smiled and proceeded to bend over and sniff the colon. I looked at him and then the colon and I said, "Sir, It's not scratch and sniff"

Oh the people you meet at health fairs.

And I'm back!

Hey everyone,

First off I would like to apologize for my extended absence. Due to extenuating circumstances I have not updated my blog. First off I was having a lot of computer problems which made for some really horrible headaches and very frustrating nights especially towards the end of winter semester. Thankfully, Melissa lent me her old computer so I would have one that wasn't quite the headache, but it was still not that great (sorry Melissa, really appreciated it though). Then I moved to Alaska where internet access is not that easy to find and must be sought out. So I got a little lazy and just didn't care about updating.

Here's the good news. I now have a beautiful mac book pro thanks to Mom and Dad! Its a wonderful birthday present, and I am so excited to have a reliable, light, and may I add pretty computer.

More good news. I heard back from my number 1 choice for an internship in July and they accepted me! I will be interning at the Huntsman Cancer Institute this fall as an Outreach Intern. I am moving to Salt Lake and although everything seems to be working out I still have a lot to do. My apartment practically fell into my lap and I am very grateful for it but I just barely started thinking about what should go in the apartment, most importantly a bed. I totally don't own one of those. So we'll see how that ends up, it might be couch city for me for a while though.

I'm starting to get nervous this is a really big change for me and really excited to see what is going to happen.

Midterm slump

As many of you have probably noticed by my many facebook status' that I have had a hard couple weeks. Tons and tons of homework, 5 tests and 3 quizzes, and trying to juggle work and a social life. Lets just say all the studying payed off, well mostly. But last night as I was preparing for my last test I was incredibly tired and fell asleep on the couch. Lets just say it was the worst grade all week, but I can deal.

After all this I think I deserve some relaxation. But instead of vegging out on the couch all weekend. I'm going to dance! Where am I going to dance? In Utah! I am going on a road trip. I'm getting out of Rexburg!

Graduation!

I've finally figured it out! After countless hours of pondering and searching byui.edu. I have a grad plan!!! I also just declared my minor something my major is required to have. So here you have what my degree will be in.

A BS in Health Science, Empahsis in Public health. Minor in Organizational Communications.

Here is what my year will look like. I am moving to Alaska for yet another summer but I will be taking 6 credits online. This fall I want to move to SLC and complete an internship. I will also be taking 6 credits online. I then will move back to Idaho to finish my last two semesters! Yes I have decided to stay the spring semester. Hopefully with that I will finally be able to put on a cap and gown!

Another tid bit of exciting news. I called the Dean of Communications and asked her if my summer job working for Alaska Coach Tours would count as an intership for my minor. She said no thats not really what we're looking for, but I think it will be a great practicum. All I have to do is email here every other week telling her how many hours I have worked, what I did during those hours and what I learned. And I get full credit! WOO HOO!!!

I am so happy that I finally have worked this out!

My Crazy Year

I just read Melissa’s blog about her year. I thought it would be fun to do the same.

January: Started yet another semester of school. I was called to serve as the Relief Society president in my student ward. With that I had the huge blessing of seeing firsthand how a ward is organized.

February: Seriously, cannot think of anything eventful that happened during this month. Probably just the same ol’ studying and stuff.

March: Started my training as a bus driver. Before I could even step inside a bus I had to pass 3 written exams. So not fun.

April: Successfully wrote a health program and decided that I wanted to make that my career.

May: Moved to Alaska for my third summer. It was my favorite summer yet. This was my first summer driving a bus and I really enjoyed it. I had so much fun.

June: The company that I work for in Alaska asked me to help out in Juneau. I started flying there almost every weekend. It was really fun to switch up the routine, and meet some new people.

July: With the hottest weather on record for Southeast Alaska we celebrated the Nations birth with fireworks on the 3rd at 11:00 p.m. Funny little tradition but so much fun. On the 4th we celebrated with a full day of activities. Town egg toss, parade, dunk tank, BBQ, cliff jumping, and last but not least my crazy friend Ali performed a FIRE DIVE for us. One of the coolest things I have ever seen.

August: I went on the craziest impromptu camping trip with my great friend Ali. We ended up camping just off the Davidson Glacier. On the 18th I turned 22. On my birthday I had the director of The Simpsons on my bus and he drew me a picture of Homer.

September: I started the fall semester at BYU Idaho. Moved to a new place. A very cute little house.

October: I went to Lake Powell for the first time. So beautiful and fun. Stayed on a house boat and slept under the stars with my great friends Liz, Ali, and Savi. On the way to the Lake. My beautiful little car suffered a tire blow out. My first time experiencing that. I also went wake boarding for the first time. I was able to stand and move around a bit. I call that a success.

Halloween was an event to remember. I dressed up as Audrey Hepburn and attended that crazy party that the cops shut down at Melissa and Kaylin’s.

November: Thanksgiving Break was crazy. I bummed around stayed with friends all the way from Ogden to Provo which is so far but crazy when it is all on the spur of the moment.

December: During the semester at school I was on a talent board committee. We were in charge of the final show of the semester where we chose the best talent from all the previous shows and let them perform in a show called the BEST OF show. After the show I was able to plan a surprise birthday party for my friend with out her knowing.

I drove home for Christmas with Melissa and Kaylin. I literally did not leave the house for 6 days. It was great just spending time with the family and recharging my batteries.

There you have it a recap of my year. I think I need to do more exciting stuff..
